The city of Waukee does a wonderful job funding our Waukee Public Library but when the community wants more, unexpected needs arise, or when innovations in library systems require more capital than is available, the Friends Foundation helps. 

Do you want to practice speaking English? Come talk with other adults in a small group. This is not a class. It is a time to speak, listen, and learn together. 

For adults ages 18+. 

Enjoy a new video with themed book readings, a song, and a suggested activity to do at home. Posted to the website and YouTube on the first Wednesday of each month.

Join us the first early out of each month for a structured activity and snacks. The second early out each month will be for games, coloring, or just hanging out. This month our first early out will be Resin Art Keychains.

Calling all crafty engineers! Drop-in and get creative with the Library's LEGO collection or make a Perler bead design. This month's design theme is: superheroes!

For kids in grades 1-5 and their caregivers.

Join Miss Erica from Dallas County Conservation for stories and activities to learn more about animals. 

For kids ages 3+ years and their caregivers. 

Meet in the Library’s Coal Mine Meeting Room at 2:30 PM on the first Thursday of each month (except January and July) for a lively discussion.

Each month explore a fascinating true story, followed by an extended learning activity. Kids don’t need to read the book in advance. Caregivers aren’t required to stay in the room for this program. This month's book is "History of Football."

No time to attend an evening or weekend program? Try our Snacks & Facts series. We’ll have a speaker the first Friday of each month (except December and July). Come ready to learn, and we’ll provide the snacks!

Pick up an activity pack that includes book suggestions and an early learning activity to complete at home! Available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

Come and make a craft that is suitable for everyone! We will all start with the same supplies and idea, but everyone’s creations will be unique. This month we will be making Wicked wands.

Carry your creativity with you. Design a beautiful watercolor-style tote bag using special fabric paints and simple techniques. No art experience needed, just bring your imagination.
